Great Pumpkin Fest at Macomb Community College

Macomb Community College is getting into the fall Halloween spirit with its inaugural Great Pumpkin Fest. This fun event for the entire family will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, from noon – 4 p.m. at the Sports and Expo Center on Macomb’s South Campus in Warren.

This free event features activities for all ages, including performances by Mad Science of Detroit, discovery stations with engaging activities based on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts.

There will be food trucks, cider, and donuts, music, and country line dancing featuring the college’s show choir the Macombers, plus a fall market with corn stalks, pumpkins, mums, and hay bales.

There will also be raffles, including a 50/50, with proceeds benefiting the Macomb Student Immediate Relief Fund, which provides emergency assistance to students struggling to continue at Macomb due to financial hardship.

The Fire and Ice show includes foggy dry ice storms, shivering scissors, bubbly showers and demonstrates how giant beach balls can float in midair. Volunteers from the audience will also get a chance to taste a special “burp” potion. The Mad Science showtimes are 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. with general seating.

The discovery stations continue the theme of fun learning for kids, including Interactive Drone Zone: Fly a drone through an obstacle course, and program and operate a mini-robot car.
