Celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the Papasian’s Library for Equality & Inclusion

This Saturday, August 14th is Free Comic Book Day. This annual event was created in order to introduce comic books to new readers as well as to help independent comic book retailers throughout North America. On Free Comic Book Day, publishers offer select titles for free at comic book shops. However, over the years, the annual event has grown, and many shops also hold special promotions throughout the day and use this as a chance to celebrate the world of comic books.

The Papasian’s Library for Equality & Inclusion is getting in on the Comic Book Day fun this year and are hosting an event called YOU are the Superhero. The Papasian Family is inviting you to the library (located on their front lawn at 6106 Chicago Road) where you will get all the supplies needed to make your own comic book at home, starring YOU as the superhero. While you’re at the library, there will also be a superhero photo booth, a station where kids can make a superhero mask with the local author of Cherry Larry Adventures, and one of Warren’s own superheroes, Community Police Officer Harvey, will be on-site to answer your questions and you can even check out his police car! Make sure you take plenty of photos while you’re at the library and take a photo of your completed comic book once you’re at home because each photo that you send to the Papasian’s Library will enter you into a contest to win great prizes! Each photo submitted counts as an entry and another chance to win!

The Free Comic Book Day celebration at the Papasian’s Library for Equality & Inclusion will take place from 10 a.m. until noon this Saturday.
