High School Sports in Warren

This past week in sports, the week of August 30th, had some high and low moments for the high school teams in the city of Warren. The Warren football teams went a combined 2-5 with the winners being the De La Salle Pilots and the Fitzgerald Spartans.

First-year head coach Juwan Shakespeare and the Fitzgerald Spartans are first in the Gold Division, going 2-0. The team is lead by Senior Tre West, who plays both sides of the ball, plus special teams. In the two games he has played he has accounted for over seven touchdowns and looks to be one of the best players in the MAC. If Tre West continues this type of play he could easily lead his team to a Gold Division title and a shot at the District Championship.

De La Salle is also looking like they have a shot at a State Championship yet again after the defeat last January to Mona Shores. Keep an eye out for the Pilots this winter as they look to get back to Ford Field for a second time in two years under head coach Dan Rohn.

Let’s take a look at some of the scores around the MAC from Football, Volleyball & Tennis.
