Warren residents: if you own or rent a house built prior to 1978, it may contain lead-based paint. Lead-based paint that is deteriorating—peeling, chipping, cracking, etc.—can pose serious health concerns, especially for children under 6 and pregnant women. If your home features at least one child under age 6 OR one pregnant woman, you may qualify for the City of Warren’s Lead Hazard Control Program, a grant offered through the City’s Community Development office. This grant is available to low- to moderate-income households, as well as to landlords who rent single-family homes to low- to moderate-income households.
