This Past Week in Sports Week of October 18

It’s now the last week of October and we’re almost in full swing with fall sports. Soccer districts are in the Semi-Finals as we have only one team left playing for it all. Selection Sunday was this past Sunday on Bally Sports and we now know where our Warren teams are playing for the high school football playoffs. Volleyball playoffs start November 1st.

Now let’s take a look at some of the Warren football teams. Our teams went a combined 3-5 with the winners being the De La Salle Pilots, the Fitzgerald Spartans, and the Center Line Panthers.

Once again the De La Salle Pilots continued their winning streak by defeating Detroit U-D Jesuit for the second time this season with a score of 49-14 to improve to 8-0. It’s now high school football playoff time and the De La Salle Pilots will have a home game against Detroit U-D Jesuit facing off for the third time this season and the second time in two weeks. The pilots have outscored them 93-21. The way they’ve been playing all season, the Pilots should win this game easily and move onto the District Championship. The game will be at Wayne State Stadium this Friday night, October 29th at 7:00 PM. We will have these highlights for you on next week’s episode of SportsLine on TV Warren’s Facebook & Vimeo page.

The Fitzgerald Spartans are on a roll right now as they put up an impressive 60 points against the Lincoln Abes. This was not even a fair match-up as the playoff-bound Spartans had a running clock to start the 3rd quarter. In this game, the West brothers put up huge numbers. Troy West had an interception early in the second quarter and returned it to the house. His brother Trey had multiple touchdowns once again as he continues to do major damage in the wild cat formation. Now the Spartans look to the football playoffs as they awaited their draw Sunday night to learn they’re playing Detroit King at King’s home field this Friday night October 29th at 7:00 p.m. We’ll have these highlights for you on next week’s episode of SportsLine on TV Warren’s Facebook and Vimeo page.

The Center Line Panthers, finished up their season going 4-5 in the bronze division. In their last game of the season, they defeated the Eastpointe shamrocks 14-8. With a team full of juniors they look to improve from this year to next. Look out for the Panthers in 2022.

The De La Salle Pilots Soccer team won the District Championship against Fraser 2-0 before defeating Warren Woods tower 7-0 in the Semi-Finals
