October is here and that means we are getting closer and closer to playoffs for all fall sports. Soccer districts start the week of the 11th, Football starts the weekend of the 29th, and Volleyball starts November 1st, to find out more information on High School Sports Playoffs head to MHSAA.com
Now let’s take a look at some of the Warren football teams. Our Teams went a combined 3-5 with the winners being the De La Salle Pilots, the Fitzgerald Spartans and the Center Line Panthers
Let’s start with the Center Line Panthers as they defeated the Lincoln Abes 45-6 in the 75th Annual Brown Jug game held at Lincoln Highschool. According to the MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) the Brown Jug game is now the longest, continuously played for jug in Michigan. They were tied with Athens/Union City Brown Jug game, but this game no longer plays. Both games started playing in 1947. The Lincoln Abes had ahold of the Brown jug for the last 2 years, as I mentioned this year was different as the panthers reclaimed the brown jug to improve the series record to Lincoln 39 – Center Line 36. Ben Torres has been the Coach of Center Line Since 2016 and his coaching record in this game is 3-3 and on the other Side for the Abes Darrius Alexander has been the head coach since 2013 and his record in the Brown Jug Game is 5-4. Next Year Center Line is bringing back everyone but two seniors, so they look to get one game closer to evening out this series in 2022. You can check out the highlights of their victory on this week’s episode of SportsLine.
The De La Salle Pilots continued their winning streak by defeating Detroit U of D Jesuit 44-7 to improve to 6-0. The Pilots are early odd favorites to get to Ford Field for the Championship game. On last week’s episode of SportsLine we had the pilots QB Brady Drogosh on the show to discuss all things Pilots football from the Offense to Defense and what Brady needs to do to keep improving his game.
The Fitzgerald Spartans are playing some of their best football right now as they defeated Marysville 46-8. Once again the West brothers lead their team to victory as they are looking forward to the playoffs, but they do have a couple more games before that starts. This week the Spartans will be taking on the Center Line Panthers
This week on SportsLine, Paul Smith and Enver Shapllo will deliver you highlights of Warren sports teams around the MAC. On this week’s episode of SportsLine will we have highlights from the Brown Jug Game, Warren Woods Tower & Warren Mott Football highlights. Also, we have Warren Woods Tower Volleyball highlights along with soccer district match ups!
